In today’s Creative Corner kids can illustrate their own pet!
Kids love to illustrate, especially stories they’ve written!
If they don’t have a pet, they can illustrate their favorite animal. Let them use whatever medium they want!
Paint, draw, color….whatever floats their boat!
Once they’ve finished their pet portrait illustration, have them write a short story of their pet.
Have them answer these questions about their pet to get them started;
What are their ears like? Are they long and floppy? Or are they short and pointy?
Do they have a long curly tail? Or is it short and stumpy?
What does their fur feel like when you pet them?
Are they bigger or smaller than you?
What’s their personality like? Are they hyper and happy? Or sleepy and lazy?
Do they kiss you on the nose? Or fetch a ball? Or sneak food from under the table?
Encourage your kids to use descriptive words. Write a bunch of descriptive words down to help inspire them!
Here are some good ones to start with;
Soft, corse, slobbery, happy, lazy, floppy, wiry, curly, pointy, wrinkly, adorable, grouchy, funny, sleek.
Submit their story and illustration to Jaché Studio’s Facebook Page, and their story could be highlighted right here on our blog!
If this is your first time visiting Jaché Studio’s Creative Corner, you can find out more here!
Is this something you think your kids would enjoy? I’d love to know!

It‘s quiet in here! Why not leave a response?
